Vardø is Norway's northeasternmost city, but is surprisingly easily accessible. You can easily reach Vardø by car, boat, bus and airplane. Although Vardø has only just over 2000 inhabitants there is no doubt that it is a city! On this page you will find various information about food, accommodation and travel to Vardø.
Widerøe has several departures and arrivals to and from Vardø every single day. Svartnes Airport is just 5 minutes from Vardø city center.
Car hire can be easily arranged in Kirkenes or you can have a car delivered to Vardø.
FLY, CAR, BUS, BOAT - TRAVEL TO VARDØ
A great way to get to Vardø after flying into Kirkenes is to take the Hurtigruten from Kirkenes to Vardø.
Should you travel to Vardø, it is easiest to travel by plane.
There are several direct flights each day from Oslo and Tromsø to Kirkenes. The flight time between Oslo and Kirkenes is around 2 hours. Further from Kirkenes there are two departures that correspond to planes from the south. The airport in Kirkenes is serviced by Widerøe, Norwegian and SAS.
Hurtigruten has a connection to Vardø twice a day, and it corresponds to flights to / from Oslo so you can take the boat if you do not want to fly all the way to / from Vardø.
There are good bus connections from Kirkenes Airport to Vardø. These are operated by different bus companies. For more information and timetables see Boreal transport north.

In Vardø you will find everything from gourmet food of local produce to Asian food and simple pub food. A visit to Vardø tastes great!

The cafe at Riisebruket: OBS!! Only open between 12 July - 28 July. All days from 12.00 to 18.00: Serves fish soup and fish burger, with fresh fish from right outside Hamningberg, sausages, waffles, coffee, mineral water, cold one, white and red in the glass as well as icecream.

The road to Hamningberg
It takes about an hour to drive to Hamningberg also known as: “the drive to the worlds end”. It is a spectacular raw experience, so be prepared to say WOW.
Sandfjord og Syltvikvannet
This is located on the road to Hamningberg, after about 33 kilometers. Then turn left and not to the right where you continue to Hamningberg. There you have to park your car and walk about 3.5 kilometers in beautiful nature.
